Khulna, Aug 9 (UNB) – Eleven people have been affected by dengue fever in the city and its surrounding areas.

Of the victims, six were rushed to the government hospital and five others to private clinics. None, however, died of the disease, said Civil Surgeon.

Sources said panic gripped the local people following the outbreak of the deadly dengue fever in the district.

Four dengue-affected people were admitted to the district General Hospital last month who were released after treatment.

On Saturday, two dengue patients- Bulbul, 30, of Betakhola village in Terokhada upazila and Mahmud Hassan, an Imam of a mosque, of Mohishakhuli village in Rupsha upazila – were also admitted to the General Hospital.

Another five dengue patients who are undergoing treatment at private clinics have fallen victims to the disease after coming here from Dhaka.

Meanwhile Khulna City Corporation (KCC) has opened a control room in its health department. KCC has also decided to check up and spray inside the buses and other vehicles arriving here from Dhaka.
