Chittagong, July 5 (UNB) – Police fired some 33 shots at the opposition meeting at Laldighi Maidan here on January 24, 1988.

  

CMP Armory OC Mohammad Ful Miah disclosed this while making his deposition during the hearing of the Chittagong Mass Killing case at the Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge Court today.

 

He informed the court that constable Prodip Borua fired 10 shots while constables Mustafizur Rahman, Momtaz Ali, Abdullah and Basiruddin 5 each and Abdus Salam 3 while the rest of the bullets they had taken on the day were deposited in the arms depot.

 

Ex-constable Abhijit Chakma, another witness of the case, said they fired shots at the meeting at the instruction of patrol officer JC Mondol following an order from the then Police Commissioner, Mirza Rafiqul Huda.

 

The hearing in the case resumed Tuesday after a 25-day break. The court recorded the depositions of nine people till today.
