PRISTINA (AP) - A member of the civil protection force created out of the disbanded ethnic Albanian guerrilla group was found shot dead in a western Kosovo village, authorities here said Sunday. Sadri Berisha, 38, a member of the Kosovo Protection Corps, was shot three times while sitting in his car near the village of Novo Selo Zaimovo, NATO-led peacekeepers said. United Nations police found his body late Saturday night. The motive for the killing was not immediately clear. A peacekeeping patrol searching the area did not find the weapon or make any arrests in connection with the killing, said Maj. Steven R. Shappell, a spokesman for the peacekeepers stationed in Kosovo. The shooting comes 10 days after the killing of Skender Gashi, a leading commander of the KPC's 2nd Battalion, in a central Kosovo village. The motives for his death were also unclear. The KPC was formed a year ago after the disbanding and disarming of the ethnic Albanian Kosovo Liberation Army, which fought Yugoslav forces in the province to end repression of ethnic Albanians.
