Chittagong (UNB) – Tea market was all round easier this week for lesser supports from both internal and export-buyers with a fair amount of tea remained unsold.

Internal loose tea buyers and blenders operated for the well made good liquoring types at lower rates in the auction held here on Tuesday.

Pakistan lent a fair support but others operated in lesser strength. As a result, withdrawals were heavier than last week and prices were lower.

CTC Leaf: 9,508 chests, 6,828 gunny sacks and 80 p/sacks along with 582 chests and 1350 gunny sacks of old season were on offer with less demand at easier rates.

Brokens: Medium and smaller brokens initially met with fair demand and declined by Tk 1-2 following quality, but with the progress of sale demand weakened and prices eased further.

Large brokens met with a fair demand and were easier by upto Tk 3. Plainer types were almost steady. A fair weight of tea remained unsold.

Fannings: Met with a fair demand at easier rates shedding by Tk 1.50 to Tk 3. Medium and plain varieties met with good support and were easier but higher valued teas depreciated upto Tk 4 and more. There were fair withdrawals in this category.

CTC Dust: 1,239 chests, 2,379 sacks along with 195 gunny sacks of old season on offer met with less demand. Better liquoring types were sold around last levels and easing upto Tk 2. Others eased by Tk 3-5 following quality. The plainer liquoring types eased by upto Tk 10. Internal market was selective.
