Dhaka-- (UNB)- Japan will continue its Overseas Development Assistance to Bangladesh, especially for those projects feasibility study of which has been completed. The visiting governor of Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), Hiroshi Yasuda, said this during a meeting with Finance Minister Shah AMS Kibria yesterday (Sunday). The JBIC top executive discussed with the Finance Minister progress of some ongoing projects funded by Japanese government, including the KAFCO and Chittagong airport. Hiroshi requested the Finance Minister to remove the airforce hanger from the Chittagong airport, which he termed “very significant for investment and export.” The Finance Minister said the Civil Aviation Authority had taken initiative to remove the hanger installation and it would be removed. “Settlement of KAFCO issue is at the final stage,” he told the governor. Kibria informed him of various reform programmes initiated by the government in different sectors. He thanked the governor for his visit, which he felt would be very useful for the JBIC governor to understand the people of the country as well as potential and problems that exist here. |
