Dhaka--(UNB)–UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) will provide grants over Tk 15 crore for the flood-affected people of Bangladesh’s southwest districts. The grant, to be distributed to local partner NGOs via Oxfam, CARE and Concern, will contribute to the rehabilitation activities of NGOS focussing on employment generation, agriculture rehabilitation, house reconstruction, winter cloth distribution and emergency loans to the poorest people. This rehabilitation support is in addition to Tk 7 crore already provided by the British government for relief activities, said a British High Commission press release. It said DFID would consider further relief and rehabilitation activities in the light of the recent joint donor needs assessment and the government’s reaction to the ongoing relief and rehabilitation needs to the flood-affected districts. |
