Khulna-- (UNB) - The devastating flood that hit the country’s southwestern districts caused a loss of Tk 2.27 crore to the property of Bangladesh Small and Cottage Industries Corporation (BSCIC).

BSCIC sources said a total of 321 cottage industries either fully or partially damaged along with finished goods and raw materials in the deluge.

Of the damaged industries, 18 are located in BSCIC industrial estates and 303 outside its industrial zone.

Infrastructures, including office buildings, roads, drains, culverts and raw materials of 2 salt industries worth about Tk 92.50 lakh, were completely damaged in the flooding.

BSCIC officials said they needed at least Tk 3.94 crore to reconstruct its damaged industrial units in the division.
