Some of country’s jute purchasing centers may be closed down |

Dhaka-- (UNB) - Parliamentary Standing Committee on Jute Ministry at a meeting yesterday held a discussion on the recommendations placed by BJMC on closing down some of the country’s jute purchasing centres. The committee directed the authorities concerned to prepare a list on the overall activities of the jute purchasing centres on priority basis after reviewing the quantity of purchased jute and loss and profit of those centres. A total of 174 jute purchasing centres were opened across the country to procure jute this season. Chaired by committee Chairman Mohammad Shamsul Haq, the meeting decided to extend time up to Nov 15 for depositing down-payment for selling Shambhuganj Mymensingh Jute Mills to Workers-Employees Welfare Multifarious Cooperative Society. An enquiry committee was also formed to submit a report after examining the allegations against the suspension of a BJMC official. Committee members State Minister for Jute AK Faezul Haq, Sharif Khasruzzaman, Emdadul Haq Bhuiyan, Jalaluddin Talukder, Mujibar Rahman, Dr Salek Chowdhury, Prof Kazi Golum Morshed and Adv Goutam Chakrawarty attended the meeting. Jute Secretary AQM Quamrul Huda was present. |
