Benapole-- (UNB) – Rail communication between Bangladesh and India has been restored with the improvement of the flood situation in country’s southwestern region. Railway sources said only goods-trains are plying through Ranaghat of Shialdah in India and Darshana in Bangladesh. Six more trains are waiting in Shialdah station for entering Bangladesh. Bangaon-Benapole-Petrapole line is yet to be restored as the flood-affected people are still living on the rail line. Rail communication between the two countries remained suspended since September 18 due to the flash flood. Meanwhile, 15,000 marooned people of 10 villages at Dihi UP in bordering Sharsha upazila are being deprived of sufficient food and medical facilities. Some voluntary organizations are distributing relief materials among the flood-hit people of the remote area, which is too inadequate to meet the need. |
