     Revitalization of OIC demanded by Malaysia  |

 KUALA
      LUMPUR (AP) - The Organization of the Islamic Conference
      must be revitalized to meet the challenges of globalization, Foreign
      Minister Syed Hamid Albar said Saturday.      
       Malaysia,
      which will host the Islamic Conference of Foreign Ministers
      from Tuesday, wants the organization's secretariat to be restructured to
      better serve the needs of member countries, Syed  
       He said the perception of the OIC Secretariat as weak and ineffective had to be rectified.   Syed Hamid said the ICFM meeting would pass resolutions on the situations in Iraq, Kashmir and Chechnya. "The resolution on Chechnya will call for the OIC recognition of the sovereignty of Russia over the state of Chechnya but for the conflict there to be resolved through peaceful means," he said.  
       Prime
      Minister Mahathir Mohamad is scheduled to open the 27th session
      of the ICFM, which will be attended by 1,000 delegates from OIC member
