Bulletins Bulletin : Published and Discussed
Date: Friday, March 15, 2002
From: Muniruddin Dewan
Subject:
EQUALITY IN OBLIGATION AND REWARD:part-1
Description:

Islam treats both, man or woman, equally in that whoever leads a pious life in accoedance with divine guidance is entitled in equal measure to attain salvation and eternal success in next life.
"Whoever works rightousness, man or woman, and has faith, to him We will give a new life, a life that is good and pure, and We will bestow on them their reward according to the best of their actions."
(Ref.:AL-Nahl 16:97)
In Islam the creation of superiority or status in sight of Allah is one's rightous conduct, ruling out any reference to one's gender, nationality or whatever. The Quran makes this point in unmistakable terms:
" O mankind! We created you from a single pair of male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other (not that you may despise each other). Varily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is he who is the most rightous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well-acuainted with all things."
(Ref.: AL-Hujrat 49:13)
The holy Quran has laid therefore a great stress on the spiritual equality of man and woman, as is evident from the following verse. God promises:
I will not suffer the work of any of you, be he male or female, to go to waste; you are members, one of another."
(Ref.: Aale Imran 3:195)

Both man and woman are equally obliged to practice the principles of Islam and their deeds are equally regarded. No discrimination would be made against or in favour of either on the basis of their sex for rewards and punishments. This signifies the spiritual eqality between man and woman.

please read "accoedance as 'accordance'"

But still "purush narir upor kortrittokari" and “good men will be rewarded with 70 beautiful women in their life-after!” Is not there a contradiction with “islam treats both, man or woman, equally” and “equal measure to attain salvation and eternal success in next life?”

Mr. Muniruddin Dewan thank you for paying some attention to our questions.
I am eagerly looking forward towards your next postings. As you are a wise man may I ask you two more questions?
1. what is hila/ hilla ?
2. why does a girl gets 1/3 of her fathers property where the boy gets 1/2 ?
