Claudia Schiffer calls on Sheikh Hasina |

Dhaka (UNB) - UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador Claudia Schiffer made a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina at her office yesterday (Thursday). Super model Schiffer came to Dhaka as part of her campaign to create awareness about Polio and support immunization programmes in the developing countries. UNICEF Country Representative Shahida Azfar, who accompanied Schiffer, told the Prime Minister that UNICEF has undertaken massive immunization programme in Bangladesh. She said Bangladesh had managed to combat the killer disease Polio successfully. The Prime Minister appreciated Schiffer's mission and said she was happy to see her carrying a baby on her shoulder in a remote village she visited. Hasina said her government had undertaken medicare programme to ensure free medical facilities for mother and child. Bangladesh require more vaccine to treat people suffering from Hepatitis-B and Arsenic disease, she said. |
