Dhaka-- (UNB) – World Health Organisation (WHO) has assured Bangladesh that it will provide technical support to make the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University as a center of excellence.

The of WHO Representative in Dhaka Dr Suniti Acharya when she called on Health and Family Welfare Minister Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim at his office here yesterday.

Dr Acharya thanked the Health Minister for efficiently facing the situation of dengue fever, which was spreading last year. She requested him to continue such efforts in eliminating dengue in future.

Health Minister apprised the WHO Representative that the government has trained 160 doctors on dengue fever management and ensured all facilities for providing proper treatment to dengue patients.

Earlier, the Health Minister had a meeting with senior health official to chalk out actin plan for implementing the project of building up Dhaka Medical College Hospital–2.

A 3-member committee headed by the DG Health services in this regard.
