BIRDEM Hospital opens dialysis unit |

January 3, 2001 Dhaka-- (UNB) – BIRDEM Hospital has opened a dialysis unit with five dialysis machines, five modern beds and central oxygen supply system. Foreign Minister Abdus Samad Azad inaugurated the newly furnished air-conditioned dialysis unit here yesterday, said an official handout. It said BIRDEM purchased two dialysis machines at a cost of Tk 33 lakh and received three others as donation – two from Colonel (Retd) Rahmatullah and one from Malaysian Bron Company. BIRDEM authorities have sought government and non-government support to form a trust fund to subsidise the costly treatment of dialysis. Dr AK Azad Chowdhury, Dr KM Farid Uddin and Dr Abul Masoor apprised the foreign minister of various activities of the hospital. |
