Dhaka-- (UNB) – As the year 2000 is nearing close, President Justice Shahabuddin Ahmed called for beginning evaluation of progress of the programme taken to eradicate poliomaelysis disease from the country.

In a message on the eve National Immunisation Day, the President welcomed the initiative to observe the day for the eighth time.

He said initiative had been taken up to administer polio vaccine to about two crore children below five years on two specific days of NID.

The President laid emphasis on ensuring vaccination of all children and sought cooperation of all quarters to make the programme a success.
