Dhaka-- (UNB) - Health experts have developed a draft of communication training manual to assuage the existing health problems through the manual, emphasizing behaviour change communication (BCC).

The draft was developed through a four-day workshop on “Development of Communication Training Manual” that concluded here last (Thursday) afternoon.

Some twenty BCC experts and officials both from the government and NGO’s joined the workshop, organized by International Health Communication Centre (IHCC) of Worldview International Foundation (WIF)

Addressing the concluding session, WIF executive director Dr AMM Anisul Awwal said the role of behaviour change communication has been recognized. But virtually insignificant emphasis has been put to the formulation or development of training manual capitalizing the negative behviours of the community to translate those into positive ones.

The workshop has identified 27 behavioural problems in Bangladesh, he said.

The planned manual will be generic and comprehensive that could be followed in different developing countries in Asia and Africa where malnutrition is almost a common problem.

The draft is likely to be finalized by next November after sharing it with international experts.

Dr Mohammad Moshiur Rahman, additional director general of health services of the Health Ministry and Nimal Martinus, regional director Asia, Stromme Foundation Norway, were among others, spoke on the occasion.
