Dhaka (UNB) - Arambagh Krira Sangha beat Farashganj SC by 4-2 in the tiebreaker earning two points in the NBL Premier Division Football League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday (Thursday).

This is for first time in the current premier division league that the fate of a match has been decided in the tiebreaker and as per new law the losing side also got one point.

Arambagh KS started their league campaign with 0-1 defeat against Brothers Union Club while the old city team Farashganj with happy note beating formidable Badda Jagarani Sangsad by a solitary goal.

Choton, Khokon, Nayan and Bakhtiar scored for Arambagh in the spot kicks after the match ended goal-less in the stipulated 90 minutes while Bidyut and Aziz Al Arman found the net but the shots of Mithu and Karim were saved by Arambagh custodian Himu.

Arambagh possessed the ball most of the time but failed to break the opposition defense, which played key role for Farashgan team to save it in the stipulated time.

All credits went to the old-city team defender, Ashraful Karim, who did a brilliant job to foil the opposition attacks.

In the day’s lackluster match, both teams failed to create any real chances in the first half playing the ball erratically in the mid-field but both got two chances in the second half.

A header of Farashganj defender Karim in the 53rd minute from a corner shot of Mizanur Rahman was foiled by opposition custodian Himu while after a minute Palash and Jalal failed to connect the ball from a apt position off a long through of Mizanur Rahman.

But in the 13th minute of the second half, Khokon foiled an easy chance for Arambagh as he played wide from a good throw of Gobinda when opposition custodian Dhanu was advancing.

On the other occasion, Dhanu brilliantly saved his team by fisting a fierce shot of Khokon from the danger zone.
