Dhaka (UNB) - Abahani Limited beat Arambagh KS by 4-1 goals to post their sixth straight win in the NBL Premier Division Football League at the Bangabandhu National Stadium yesterday (Thursday).

Ghanaian striker Kennedy, who maintained his impressive run scoring in every match, struck twice while Galib Imran and Nazrul netted one goal each for the celebrated Dhanmondi outfit.

Bakhtiar scored the lone goal for Arambagh.

This was a sweet revenge for Abahani who were upset 3-1 by Arambagh in the Federation Cup Football, season’s curtain raiser tournament.

The popular sky-blue team took the match in their hand leading the first half 2-0 in the muddy ground.

Galib Imran, a newcomer in the metropolis league, put title aspirants Abahani ahead in the 7th minute with his left-footed shot from a Zakir cross in the danger zone.

Trailing by one goal, Arambagh missed two good chances in the first half to equalise the margin.

On one occasion, a superb volley of Bakhtiar from a Gobinda cross narrowly missed the target.

On the other occasion, luck didn’t favour Arambagh when a nice header of Apu from a Kamal cross hit the cross bar.

Just before lemon break, Kennedy doubled the winners’ margin as his left-footer beating one opposition defender in the danger zone found the net kissing the side bar.

Abahani looked tired in the second half. But Arambagh failed to take any advantage, and instead they swallowed another goal in the 22nd minute of the half.

Kennedy further increased the margin, scoring again with a left-footer from close off a right-side cross of Tito.

Kennedy so far scored eight goals in the ongoing league.

After two minutes, Bakhtiar pulled one back for Arambagh with a magnificent right-footed shot from on top of the box from Roxy pass.

Abahani defender Nazrul Islam completed the winners’ tally in the 38th minute of the second half with a header from Arman corner.
