Dhaka, Sept 15 (UNB) - Rahmatganj MFS tasted their first win in the NBL Premier Division Football League beating promotees Victoria SC by 4-1 goals at the Bangabandhu National Stadium today (Friday).


Trailing 1-0 in the first half, Rahmatganj started their goal fiesta in the water soaked field in the second half following a half-hour stoppage due to due to heavy downpour.


Captain Saifur Rahman Moni struck twice while Azimuddin and Sahajuddin Tipu scored one goal each for the winners. Abul netted the lone goal for the losers.


Last year’s first division league champions Victoria Sporting Club took lead early in the first half when Abul tapped the ball from a right-side cross of Sohel.


Going one down, Rahmatganj tried hard to equalise the margin in the first half and spoiled several chances.


Saiful Islam Chanchal missed the first easy chance in the 35th minute as he failed to connect a Moni minus in front of an open net.


After five minutes, a powerful shot of Rashidul Hasan Shamim deflected from the side bar. Later, a Jalaluddin shot returned to play after hitting the cross bar.


Tipu missed the last chance before the lemon break as his left-footer went wide after he aimed at the goal dodging past two defenders in the danger zone.


Substitute Azim scored the equaliser for Farashganj in the fourth minute of the second half when his sudden left-footed shot from a goal mouth melee kissed the net.


In the 21st minute of the second half, Moni doubled the winners’ margin scoring from a Shamim minus after dodging one opposition defender.


Moni scored his second goal, the third for Farashganj, in the 38th minute of the second half directing the ball over goalie Shimul’s head when the custodian was advancing.


After two minutes, Tipu completed the winners’ tally dodging the opposition goalie when he was again advancing.


Victoria’s custodian Shimul left the field after the fourth goal due to injury and Victoria played the last five minutes with ten men.

Rahmatganj MFS: Upendra Mansingh, Zaman (Mansoor), Kingshuk, Apu, Mintu, Shamim (Zahid), Chanchal, Javed (Azim), Jalal, Moni and Tipu.


Victoria SC: Shimul, Lipu, Jet, Jiban (Sumon), Bappi (Polo), Kabir, Lavlu (Kaiser), Sohel, Rahel, Manik and Abul.
