Dhaka (UNB) - Mohammedan Sporting Club kept their winning run in the NBL Premier Division Football League with a comfortable 3-0 goals victory over Brothers Union Club here yesterday (Wednesday).

Celebrated national striker Alfaz Ahmed scored two goals while former national forward Imtaiz Ahmed Nakib one for the illustrious Motijheel outfit.

But the two strikers foiled more than half dozen chances against the off-colour defense of the Gopibagh outfit in the one-sided match at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

This was the fourth consecutive win for defending champions Mohammedan while Brothers Union suffered third successive defeat as they bagged only one win against Badda Jagarani Sangsad.

The Brothers Union players looked inutile, specially having a huge gape in the mid-field, after swallowing two goals in the first half.

Country’s number one striker Alfaz put his team ahead in the 22nd minute when he placed the ball into the net after opposition goalie Milon failed to grip a Ruhul Amin cross.

Brothers Union’s Nepalese recruit Bashanta Thapa created an opportunity four minutes later to equalize the margin when he played a brilliant right-footer dozing two defenders in danger zone but it deflected from the cross bar.

Nakib, amidst cheers from the popular black-and-white team supporters, doubled the margin from a combined attack pushing the ball from a handshake distance off a Rakib pass.

In the 25th minute of the second half, Mohammedan captain Alfaz scored third goal for his team when his robust shot kissed the net.

Nakib got an easy chance from a Matiur Munna pass in the ninth minute of the second half but the experienced striker played a ludicrous shot, which went wide from target.

After the lemon break, Brothers Union could make only one shot to the opposition goalmouth but the shot by Parvez Babu from 25-yard distance was saved by Mohammedan custodian Ponir.
