Dhaka (UNB) - Abahani Limited recorded their third consecutive victory in the NBL Premier Division Football League outplaying old horse Brothers Union Club by 3-0 goals at Bangabandhu National Stadium here yesterday (Sunday).

Promising national striker Mizanur Rahman Dawn, Ghana forward Kennedy and veteran medio Zakir scored one each for the sky-blue Dhanmondi outfit, which dominated the first half by 1-0 goal.

With the day's well-merited win, the traditional Dhanmondi outfit took a joint lead with their arch-rivals Mohammedan SC securing full nine points from three matches following their 4-1 win over Victoria SC and 3-0 against Rahmatganj.

The Gopibagh based Brothers Union remained at three points playing as many matches. They beat Arambagh KS 1-0 and lost 0-1 to Muktijoddha Sangsad KC in previous two matches.

Dawn opened Abahani account in the 32nd minute by a rebounder when a Kanchan shot came his way from Brothers custodian Tony (1-0).

The well-built Ghana striker Kennedy fired the Brothers net in the 55th minute by a cannon like shot off a Tito pass that entered home hitting the opponent goalie Tony (2-0).

Former national linkman Zakir further sounded the Abahani margin in the 86th minute by sending a loose ball to the net from close when a nice through of medio Arman came his way off Kanchan (3-0).

The match was keenly contested in the first half but Abahani took the control of the match during the second half when Brothers booters found off colour.
