Dhaka, Aug 25 (UNB) – Holders Abahani Ltd will meet with runners-up Muktijoddha Sangsad KC in the second semifinal of the 16th Federation Cup Football Tournament today at 5pm at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

Muktijoddha Sangsad reached the semifinal as group B champions with all win-record beating Rahmatganj MFS by 4-1, Prantik KC by 2-0 and league champion Mohammedan SC by 1-0 goal.

On the other hand, the sky-blue outfit Abahani KC managed the semifinal berth as group A runners-up. Abahani beat Shantinagar by 3-1, Badda Jagaroni by 2-0 and lost to Arambagh KS by 1-3 goals.

In the tomorrow’s second semifinal match, Abahani will field its two newly recruited Ghana footballers - defender Charles Ghansha and forward Opsuhen Cannedy - while Muktijoddha will include Indian striker Bojoyan in its lineup.

Meanwhile, both Abahani and Muktijoddha captains said their winning chance in tomorrow’s match are 50/50.

Abahabi captain and national medio Iqbal Hossain said: Our huge supporters are our assets. We always play well against Muktijoddha and will also do better tomorrow.

“Our morale is now very high beating Badda although we lost to Arambagh by 1-3 goals. All players in my team are fit except linkman Arman, who is suffering from injury problem,” said the Abahani skipper.

Muktijoddha skipper and national defender Rajnikanta Barman said our morale is also high beating league champion Mohammedan in the last match.

About Abahani, Rajnikant said “In paper, Abahani is comparatively stronger than us, but after the inclusion of Indian striker Bijoyan our team is now a balanced one and we feel no pressure.”
