Dhaka (UNB)- Touring Mohammedan Sporting Club won their first match against Sporting Bengal United by 3-2 goals at Mile End Stadium in East London on Friday.


The semi-professional team Bengal United led the first half 2-1 in the well-contested encounter.


Country’s number one striker Alfaz Ahmed netted two and Matiur Munna one for Mohammedan SC while Sajjad and Nizamul scored for the losers, according to a message received here yesterday.


Sajjad put Sporting Bengal United, the best Bangladesh team in United Kingdom, ahead in the early 10th minute. MSC swallowed the goal for a blunder of defense.


Premier striker Alfaz Ahmed, also captain of the touring team, made the equaliser in the 25th minute but earlier one of his brilliant shots went wide off the target.


Five minutes ahead of the lemon break, Nizamul scored the second goal for the Sporting Bengal United to take the first half lead.


In the fifth minute of the second half, Mohammedan medio Matiur Munna leveled the margin and after 15 minutes Alfaz scored the match decider.


Mohammedan SC: Nizam, Jewel, Faisal, Rezaul, Anwar (Jahangir), Selim, Munna, Rakib, Alfaz, Nakib and Ruhul Amin (Shoeb).


Sporting Bengal United: Helal, Jem, Hasnat, Shahid, Atiq, Suraj, Arju (Rashid), Gaffar, Mujahid, Sajjad, Mujahid (Kawsar),


Dhaka league champions Mohammedan will play their next match against English Premier League Club West Ham Uniteds Under-19 squad.


They will return home on August 18 and their first match in the 16th Federation Cup Football Tournament on the following day. In a message to the organiser of the federation cup, they requested to differ the match by a day.
