Dhaka (UNB) – Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) has rejected the NSC’s 75-day allotment of Bangabandhu National Stadium for football in the current season.

The rejection, as decided by the executive body of the federation on Friday night, pushed this year’s football season to uncertainty as the federation also postponed the player-transfer schedule.

The National Sports Council allotted the big bowl to BFF for 75 days starting from yesterday (July 15), but BFF officials feel that the time is inadequate to complete all the football meets of the season.

The metropolis league, federation cup, metropolis cup, Ganga-Jamuna Cup and Bangabandhu Cup football competitions are now in dilemma following the BFF’s decision to reject the allotment.

The Federation officials met with the NSC Chairman and State Minister for Youth and Sports Obaidul Quader on Wednesday and requested him to allot the big bowl for six months.

It was learnt that the request was turned down by the state minister. But the Federation in a written statement today claimed that they had got assurance from him to reconsider their appeal.

“The state minister told us that the final decision of the NSC would be informed by July 14. But we got no decision from the NSC till July 14 despite the assurance”, the federation said.

The Football Federation expressed resentment on the role of the NSC regarding the matter saying that “it is tantamount to negligence of the sports administration towards football.”

In its next programme, the Federation will exchange views on this issue with presidents and general secretaries of all clubs on Tuesday and take further programmes in phases.

The Federation directed the Metropolis Football League Committee to postpone next week’s player-transfer schedule which was deferred earlier.
