Dhaka (UNB)– Bangladesh played to a 2-2 draw with Pakistan in a Group-4 match of the 9th Asian Youth Under-16 Football Championship in the Indian city of Jamshedpur yesterday (Saturday).

In the ongoing Asian youth meet, Bangladesh, which earned a 1-0 victory over Sri Lanka on Wednesday, dominated the first half by a solitary goal, according to a faxed message received here from India.

Anwarul Karim Sohel and Masudul Islam scored for Bangladesh, one in each half while Zahid netted twice for Pakistan, both in the second half.

Sohel, a striker of Dhaka Prantik SC, scored first for Bangladesh in the 10th minute (1-0).

Zahid of Pakistan leveled the margin in the 57th minute when Bangladesh custodian failed to punch his lob in the 57th minute (1-1).

Substitute booter Masud, who was replaced by Pappu in the 51st minute, again put Bangladesh ahead in the 69th minute by a planned move (2-1) while Zahid again restored parity just three minutes before the final whistle (2-2).

Bangladesh’s Ujjal, Polo and Sohel spoiled some good scoring chances while Nadim of Pakistan also missed the target once.
