Dhaka--(UNB) – Bangladesh suffered a humiliating 0-6 goals defeat against hosts Saudi Arabia in their second return-leg match of the World Cup Football qualifier for Asian Group-10 in Dammam on Saturday.
It was the worst defeat for the SAF Games soccer gold winning Bangladesh in the ongoing meet. They drew 0-0 with Vietnam, lost 0-3 against Saudi Arabia and beat Mongolia by 3-0 goals in the first-leg but conceded 0-4 defeat against Vietnam in their first return leg appearance.
In the match against Saudi Arabia, live telecast by Saudi Television Saturday night, Bangladesh conceded all the six goals in the 45-minute first half.
Bangladesh made a good resistance against their mighty hosts till 27th minute although they went down by 0-1 goal in the 5th minute.
But after the second goal in the 28th minute, Bangladeshi booters were found nervous and conceded four more goals in quick succession, in the 29th, 32nd, 37th and 43rd minutes.
Bangladesh failed to make any effective attempt in the Saudi territory during the whole proceedings. Custodian Aminul saved Bangladesh from more humiliation foiling three more close calls.
Bangladesh played a defense football in the second half against a relaxed mood of Saudi Arabia to stick to the first half result.
In the last match, Bangladesh will play Mongolia today (Monday) at the same venue.
