Dhaka-- (UNB) - Two hattricks by Kennedy and Kanchan helped Abahani Limited to post the biggest victory of 7-0 goals over Rahmatganj MFS in the super-four of the NBL Premier Division Football League at Mirpur Stadium yesterday (Tuesday).


It was the last match of the first round of the super-four held after a month-long break due to Bangladesh cricket team's inaugural test match against India.


The second round will begin Thursday at the Bangabandhu National stadium.


With the day's huge victory, Abahani Limited raised their tally to 24 points from 12 matches but they are still far behind the title race almost centered round Mohammedan SC and Muktijoddha Sangsad.


Mohammedan Sporting Club dominated the points-table with 30 points from 12 matches while Muktijoddha Sangsad KC followed them with one point behind from same number of outings.


In the day's match, the illustrated Dhanmondi outfit blasted in the first half by 4-0 goals to earn full points after frustrating five consecutive matches at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium.


Abahani lastly managed full three points against Arambagh KS in the first leg. Meanwhile, they lost four matches and beat Muktijoddha Sangsad in their second super-four encounter by tiebreaker.


In the day's one-sided match, Ghanaian striker Kennedy opened the floodgate for the Federation Cup champions in the very first minute when he tapped the ball from a Tito cross.


Another forward Kanchan opened his account in the 24th minute to double the winners' margin as his fierce left-footer reached home when the opposition custodian Zahidur was advancing.


Captain and medio Iqbal Hossain netted the third goal for the popular sky-blue team in the 39th minute from a minus by Indian striker Sabir Pasha.


Just before the lemon break, Kennedy scored his second goal, fourth for his team, with a brilliant solo effort dodging four opposition booters to reach home from about 25 yards.


In the second half, Kanchan, who came out into the field as a substitute for Galib, netted his second goal by pushing the ball from a Pavel pass from close to the goalmouth in 12th minute.


Kennedy reached his feat in the 28th minute of the second half from a handshake distance from a substitute Pavel pass.


This was the sixth hattrick of the league, first for the Ghanaian striker to increase his tally to 11. Naqib of Mohammedan, however, remained the highest scorer netting 13 goals with two hattricks.


In the 31st minute of the second half, Rahmatganj striker Moni failed to score from a penalty shot as his attempt was saved by opposition goalie Biplob.


Kanchan sealed the winners' tally scoring the seventh goal of the match and completing the seventh hattrick of the league in the 40th minute from a Kennedy pass.
