Dhaka (UNB) - Two experienced willow-holders — Akram Khan and Aminul Islam Bulbul — guided Bangladesh to set a fighting total against Kenya in a friendly match at Mombassa Sports Club in Kenya yesterday (Thursday).


Riding on a 96-run partnership by the two the middle-order batsmen in the 4th wicket stand, the test babe Bangladesh scored 246 runs for 9 wickets in the stipulated 50 overs after deciding to bat first.


Big man Akram Khan was the top scorer for Bangladesh side making 56 runs off 60 balls before being trapped leg before wicket while immediate past national captain Bulbul contributed 48 runs off 98 balls.


Another fruitful and quick fire 54-run association came from sixth wicket partnership between skipper Naimur Rahman Durjoy and his deputy Khaled Masud Pilot.


Wicket keeper-cum-batsman Pilot hammered 35 runs off 30 balls while Durjoy added 24 runs off 26 balls.


Meanwhile, left-arm spinner Mohammed failed to practise in the match due to his illness, according a message received here yesterday.


Medium pacer Thomas Odoyo was the most successful bowler for Kenya picking up three wickets for 48 runs while opening bowler Martin Suji captured two wickets conceding 46 runs in 10 overs.


Spinner Mohammed Sheikh also took two wickets for 33 runs in 10 overs.
