SYDNEY (AP) - Australian batsman Mark Waugh on Wednesday offered to open his financial records to scrutiny if investigators reopened an inquiry into match fixing allegations against him.

Waugh, twin brother of Australian skipper Steve Waugh, and Aussie leg-spinner Shane Warne were fined by the Australian Cricket Board in 1994 for accepting money from an Indian bookmaker to provide weather and pitch information.

The matter was kept secret by the ACB until last year, when details of the fines were leaked in the media.

Both players have come under increased scrutiny since admissions by South African skipper Hansie Cronje earlier this year that he accepted money from an Indian bookmaker.

Cronje was fired as South African captain and his revelations rocked the cricket world.

Former Pakistan captain Imran Khan reignited speculation over Waugh's innocence when he told an Australian TV program that it didn't make sense for a bookie to pay players just to provide a pitch report.

Imran urged the ACB to reopen its inquiry into the Waugh-Warne affair but the national governing body ruled out delving back into the issue unless fresh evidence was presented.

Waugh denied he has ever fixed a match.
