Committee of proposed Asian Cricket Foundation formed |

Dhaka, June 5 (UNB) – A nine-member committee of the proposed Asian Cricket Foundation (ACF) was formed at a meeting here today (Monday) to raise fund for the development of cricket in Asia.
The committee will start functioning after getting approval from the Asian Cricket Council (ACC), scheduled to meet later this month in London during the ICC conference.
The main task of the Foundation will be management of events, marketing and human welfare.
The meeting at the Hotel Sheraton co-opted four Cricket Board presidents of India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and the United Arab Emirates in addition to a 5-member committee formed in its first meeting in Sharjah.
ICC President Jagmohan Dalmiya, who completes his tenure this month after an ICC meeting in London, has been named the president of the proposed Foundation.
Other members of the ACF are ACC president and President of Pakistan Cricket Board Lt Gen Tauqir Zia, Vice President of the Emirates Cricket Board Abdur Rahman Bukhatir, former Pakistani captain Asif Iqbal and Bangladesh Cricket Board general secretary Syed Ashraful Haq.
The ACF will claim 64 per cent of the ICC Development Fund. However, they will demand 50 per cent if Bangladesh get the test status in the ensuing ICC meeting.
ICC President Jagmohan Dalmiya, who came here on Sunday afternoon, left this (Monday) afternoon after attending the meeting.
Apart from Dalmiya, the meeting was attended by ACC President Lt Gen Tauqir Zia, Abdur Rahman Bukhatir, Asif Iqbal and Syed Ashraful Haq. Chairman of ICC Finance and Marketing Committee Ehsan Mani of Pakistan was also present on invitation. |
