Dhaka, June 5 (UNB) - Pakistan had a good dress rehearsal with a 7-wicket victory against their ultimate rival Sri Lanka in the last preliminary match of the four-nation Asia Cup cricket tournament at the Bangabandhu National Stadium today (Monday).

Defending champions Sri Lanka and Pakistan qualified for the final scheduled on Wednesday after beating India and Bangladesh in earlier matches.

Yousuf Youhana maintained his impressive run in the tournament making unbeaten 90 runs guiding Pakistan to reach the target of 193 runs losing three wickets in 48.2 overs.

The one down right-hand batsman was adjudged back to back man of the match for his superb knock facing 130 balls that featured eight fours and two sixes.

Youhana, a cool customer in the Pakistan squad, scored one century and two half centuries in three matches.

In the day’s match, he had 107-run association in the second wicket stand with Mohammed Wasim who scored 44 runs off 111 balls. Inzamamul Haq was the other notable scorer with 27 runs off 31 balls.

Left-arm pacer Sajeewa de Silva captured two wickets for Sri Lanka.

With nothing at stake in the match, Pakistan rested three key players - fast bowler Wasim Akram, opener Saeed Anwar and all- rounder Abdur Razzak. Young Shabbir Ahmed, Mohammad Wasim and Shoaib Malik replaced their more illustrious colleagues.

The islanders also made two changes from the team that beat India last week. Medium pacer S de Silva and spinner Upul Chandana replaced batsman Dilshan Tilakratne and left-arm pacer Nuwan Zoysa.

Sri Lankan captain Sanath Jayasuriya won the toss and elected to bat first hoping for some good batting practice before the final. But they failed to take advantage and were bowled out for 192 in 49 overs with five run outs.

Jayasuriya got out after hitting 28 runs off 29 runs that included four boundaries. The Pakistanis put brakes on the Sri Lankan batting as Aravind de Silva was run out for two runs.

One down Marvan Atapattu was the top scorer for the Islanders with 62 runs off 105 balls, studded with three boundaries.

Atapattu and Chandana put on 62 runs off 12 overs for the sixth wicket. Chandana contributed 46 runs off 57 balls with one boundary and two huge over boundaries.

Medium-pace bowler Azhar Mahmood was the most successful

Pakistani bowler, capturing three wickets for 24 runs.

Local umpire Ahkteruddin Shahin, who acted as third umpire in the match, gave two controversial decisions against Russel Arnold and Marvan Attapattu.

On both occasions, TV replay showed that the batsmen were not out.
