Dhaka, June 3 (UNB) – Pakistan marched into the final of 7th Asia Cup Cricket overpowering old foe India by 44 runs in a skirmish here today (Saterday).

They will take on defending champions Sri Lanka in the final scheduled for Wednesday.

Riding on Yousuf Youhana’s blitzkrieg unbeaten ton, Pakistan set up a daunting target of 295 runs against their rivals after deciding to bat first at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

The middle-order right-hand batsman Youhana made his career third century with style hitting a six over the mid-on against pacer T Kumaran in the last ball of the innings.

Youhana, the 26-year-old cool customer of the Pakistan squad, was adjudged man of the match.

Chasing the huge total, four times Asia Cup champions India swallowed second straight defeat being bowled out for 251 runs in 47.4 overs.

Two overs were curtailed from the Indian innings due to their slow bowling in the first innings.

Medium pacer Abdur Razzak was the chief of the wrecker picking up four wickets for 28 runs in 8 overs, including those of two prized batsmen Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid.

Ace bowler Wasim Akram celebrated his 34th birthday making the first breakthrough when Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly offered a catch to Mohammed Akram at third-man fence with scoreboard reading only 26 runs.

Sachin Tendulkar and Rahul Dravid were playing quite well in the second wicket stand but the 42-run partnership was broken when Dravid was trapped plum leg before wicket by Abdur Razzak.

The most experienced campaigner in the one-day cricket Azaharuddin cheaply walked up to the dressing room.

But the Indian hope was totally shattered with master batsman Sachin Tendulkar’s dismissal decision by lbw by Sri Lankan umpire Asoka de Silva. He made 26 runs off 32 balls.

Ajay Jadeja reduced the margin scoring 93 runs thanks to Pakistani fielders, who helped him to stay at the crease dropping three times at the fence.
