Chittagong (UNB) – Chittagong City Corporation (CCC) yesterday brought out a jubilant procession in the city to mark the crowning of Bangladesh with test status in cricket.
The colourful procession was brought out from the CCC premises at 10am and terminated at Shahid Minar after parading the city’s main thoroughfares.
CCC Mayor ABM Mohiuddin Chowdhury, cricketer Akram Khan, Chittagong Sports Association Secretary Shahed Asgar Chowdhury, local politicians and people from all walks of life to part in the procession.
After the procession, the CCC Mayor declared that the corporation would hold Chittagong Mayor Gold Cup Cricket Tournament from this year and set up a cricket academy to create good cricketers.
On the occasion, CCC will arrange special prayers in different city mosques after Jumma prayers on Friday. |
