ARNOS VALE, St. Vincent, APR 13 (AP) - West Indies fast bowler Franklyn Rose ripped through the Pakistan middle order with five wickets to spur his team to a 96-run win in the fourth one-day cricket international on Wednesday in the Cable and Wireless Trophy.

Rose's career-best five for 23 off 10 overs helped rout the Pakistanis for 117, the lowest total in 10 matches at this venue.

Only vice-captain Inzamam-ul-Haq, who hit four fours in an unbeaten 51 off 95 balls, managed to come to grips with the rampant home team's bowling.

The West Indies, led by an even half century from captain Jimmy Adams, had earlier totaled 213 for seven off 50 overs after winning the toss and batting. Adams shared an important third-wicket partnership of 84 with fellow Jamaican left-hander Wavell Hinds, who scored 39.

A capacity crowd of 11,000 watched the West Indies' third victory in as many matches in the competition. Rolling Stones lead singer Mick Jagger was among those in attendance, flying over from his home in the neighboring Grenadine island of Mustique.

The West Indies' new ball bowlers, Curtly Ambrose and Reon King, were the first to stall Pakistan's reply before man of the match Rose wreaked havoc.

Ambrose struck with the last ball of his first over, Imran Nazir inside edging to wicket-keeper Ridley Jacobs for a duck.

It took Pakistan until the fifth over to score a run in the face of quality fast bowling from the 36-year-old Curtly Ambrose and King, his 24-year-old understudy.

The usually explosive Shahid Afridi had managed just five off 21 balls before he was dismissed. The 20-year-old was pouched at midoff as he tried to loft King over the top.

Rose soon made his presence felt, breaking an emerging 20-run stand between Inzamam and Younis Khan.

Younis hit a pull to midon after struggling to score 15 off 53 balls. The 22-year-old struck two boundaries.

In the same over, Yousuf Youhana was smartly caught at square leg by the diving Wavell Hinds to leave Pakistan in peril at 32 for four.

They fell into deeper trouble nine runs later when Rose bowled all-rounder Abdur Razzaq for two, the ball cannoning off his elbow onto his stumps.

Captain Moin Khan and Inzamam-ul-Haq brought some respectability to the innings, adding 47 for the sixth wicket.

The West Indies' innings was built on Adams and Hinds' partnership and an opening stand of 49 between Barbadians Philo Wallace and Sherwin Campbell.

Wallace lashed a six and a four in 21 off 45 balls, while Campbell hit three fours in 22 off 49 balls.

When the openers fell in quick succession, Adams and Hinds rebuilt the innings in their solid association.

Adams followed scores of 60 and 41 in earlier back-to-back wins over Zimbabwe, with 50 off 87 balls with two fours.

The 23-year-old Hinds, who scored his maiden century in the second win over Zimbabwe 10 days ago in Jamaica, hit four fours and spent 82 balls compiling his 39.

The late order rallied towards the end, adding 76 runs off the last 10 overs. They were quick-fire contributions of 15 by Gayle an unbeaten 14 by Jacobs and 12 by Ricardo Powell.

Razzaq was the best of the Pakistani bowlers, with two for 30 off nine overs. Leg-spinner Mushtaq Ahmed, two for 34 off 10 overs, and off-spinner Arshad Khan, two for 38 off 10 overs, also bowled impressively.

Pakistan will meet Zimbabwe in the next match Saturday in Grenada. Zimbabwe, already losers of their first three matches, must win to have any chance of denying Pakistan passage through to the finals to join the already-qualified West Indies.

Pakistan will finish the preliminary round against the West Indies on Sunday.
