Dhaka, Apr 12 (UNB)- An undefeated 74-run partnership between Tillekaratne and Nahid steered Mohammedan SC to a five-wicket win against Wari Club in the Janakantha Premier Division cricket League here today (Wednesday). 

With this victory, Mohammedan Sporting Club collected twelve points from ten matches. Wari bagged only four points from same number of outings. 

Mohammedan has one match left in the first leg against Sadharan Bima, which will be held on April 18. 

Chasing a paltry 128-run target, Motijheel outfit fell into a big trouble losing their first top order batsmen at 56 runs but Nahid and Tillekeratne reached the target making 130 runs with twenty overs to spare at the Bangabandhu National Stadium. 

Sri Lankan left-handed batsman Hasan Tillekeratne made unbeaten 44 runs off 75 balls that featured eight boundaries while Nasirul Alam Nahid remained not out with 27 runs off 47 balls that included three fours. 

Wari’s new ball bowler Zakir made the first breakthrough in the third over’s first ball  sending Sri Lankan Samaraweera to the pavilion. He struck 18 runs off 13 deliveries before being bowled out. 

The right hand pacer dismissed another opener Rashedul Haq Sumon trapping him leg before wicket in the last ball of the third over. 

His opening partner MI Montu also took two wickets of Mohammed Rafique (5), who was promoted at the batting order, and Ruwan Kalpage (12). Both of them fell victim to lbw. 

Earlier, Wari Club were bundled out for 127 runs in 44.2 overs after they elected to bat first. The match was fixed 48 overs a side due to a delayed start for pitch condition. 

Captain Athar Ali Khan, the gentle medium pacer, played the key role to wreck the opposition batting line-up picking up four wickets for 14 runs in 10 overs.  

Left-arm spinner Mohammed Rafique picked up two wickets for 28 runs in 9 overs while Ruwan Kalpage and Shahidul Islam Babu took one wicket each for 22 and 24 runs respectively. 

Number six batsman MR Salim was the top scorer for Wari Club making unbeaten 41 runs off 83 deliveries with three hits to the fence. 

Opener Anup Kumar scored 32 runs off 38 balls with four hits across the rope.
