Dhanmondi Club will return to the Premier Cricket League after a long time when they booked one of the two promotion berths from First Division Cricket League.

In their last league match on Friday. Dhanmondi defeated Khelaghar SKS by four wickets at Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium to push their tally to 24 points.

It was Dhanmondi's 12th win in the run which guaranteed them a place among the elite clubs for the next season.

On 22 points, Young Cricketers are the best bet to reserve the remaining promotion spot. They have two matches in hand and a victory against Eskaton Sabuj Sangha today will also see them through to the Premier League. They are also in a better place to seal the championship with a hundred percent record from now on.

For Damal Smriti champions Khelaghar, it was a bitter campaign in the end. They maintained a superb record in the first phase but stumbled in the six-team super league to lose their comfortable lead. They finished their 16 matches with 20 points.

In the day's encounter, a magnificent hundred by Khelaghar captain Raju went down the drains as they failed to build up a challenging total. After being put into bat. Khelaghar survived from early disaster to score 218 for six with opener Raju scoring 114 off 111 balls. In reply, Dhanmondi raced to 219 for six in 42.3 overs.

Raju, who hit 11 boundaries and two sixes during his 143 minute knock, lost two batsmen with just three runs on board. Raju and Sabuj took the score to 109 before the latter was sent back for 27 made with five fours.

Raju was the fifth man out. bowled by Sumon in the 34th over. He left his side at 177-5 but his teammates put on a frustrating show after his departure, adding only 41 runs in the final 16 overs.

Dhanmondi openers Anis and Setu rattled 55 runs inside nine overs while a solid middle order performance helped them wrap up the show with more than seven overs to spare. Skipper Anis scored a quick fire 38 off 41 balls while Sumon Barua contributed a strokeful 47 from 67 deliveries, featuring eight hits to the fence.

Dickens however, top scored 54 which included nine fours in undefeated 61balls
