Dhaka-- (UNB) – An unbeaten 105 runs by Shaun Marsh guided touring Commonwealth Bank Cricket Academy (CBCA) of Australia to a facile five-wicket victory over host BCB Eleven in the second day-night limited over match here yesterday (Wednesday).

This was the third consecutive victory for the famous Australian academy against the BCB selections in the limited-over matches in Rajshahi and Dhaka.

Chasing a modest total of 236 runs by the local boys, the visitors opened their innings cautiously to reach their target making 240 for 5 in 45.2 overs.

One down Shaun Marsh pairing with opener Daniel Harris contributed 130 runs in the third wicket stand to ensure the team’s all-win record in the one-day match.

Marsh, who hit an eye catching century against the BCB Under-21 team in a three-day match earlier in BKSP, completed his second ton yesterday scoring not out 105 off 118 balls with six hits across the rope and one over the rope.

Harris made useful 65 runs in 85 balls that featured five boundaries.

Ashfaque Ali Rahat of BCB claimed two wickets giving away 52 runs.

Batting first, the host BCB Eleven scored 236 runs for 9 wickets in stipulated 50 overs in the second day-night limited over match against the Australian visitors.

Skipper Naimur Rahman Durjoy and Sajjad Ahmed Shipon shaped the innings in the middle while Mushfiqur Rahman Babu and Muktar Siddiq did a good job in the dying moments to help the home side post the respectable total at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.

National Test captain Durjoy made a quick 51 runs off 41 balls with five fours and two sixes before caught at long-off trying to play a big shot against O’Brien.

The dashing batsman completed his fifty, only in 37 balls, playing a sweep shot against left-arm spinner O’Brien that hit the fence. He also hammered two sixes over mid-wicket against O’Brien and Williams.

Shipon played a stroke-full 68 runs facing 120 balls that featured nine fours, but was dismissed at a crucial stage of the innings offering a catch to McDonald at mid-wicket off spinner Williams’s second ball in his first over.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) XI, however, made a bad start as national opener Mehrab Hossain Opee returned to the pavilion facing the first ball of the second over off Chaitra.

But one down right-handed Shipon repaired the early damage pairing with promising Nafis Iqbal who scored 28 runs off 63 deliveries with three hits across the rope.

The patient partnership ended with Nafis caught at mid-off by Chaitra off Sumit Panda. The hosts lost another quick wicket when number four batsman Hasanuzzaman was run out with a duck.

Shipon and his captain Durjoy once looked very solid in the fourth wicket stand to post the fighting total against the Australian boys, but both failed to keep a cool head.

After their dismissal, Biplob (7), Sumit (5) and Saikat went back to the pavilion in quick succession, as the home side reached 197 for 8 with 6.3 overs to spare.

National all rounder Mushfiqur Rahman Babu and wicket keeper Muktar Siddiq contributed 34 runs in the ninth wicket stand.

Babu scored 30 off 36 balls with a boundary while Mukter, dropped twice, remained unbeaten on 23 off 25 deliveries that featured two boundaries.

Pacer McDonald and spinner O’Brien, the punished brutally by the BCB willow holders, captured two wickets each.
