Dhaka-- (UNB)- Chittagong Division brilliantly came back on the winning track crushing Dhaka Metropolis by seven wickets with one day in hand in the Green Delta National Cricket League.


The four-day match at the Comilla Stadium ended in three days as the defending champions, riding on a quickfire 59-run by opener Nafis Iqbal, reached the target of 104 runs losing 3 wickets in 20.3 overs.


Chittagong, who lost their previous longer version and one-day matches against Khulna Division, increased their tally to 36 points with 6 more from yesterday’s encounter while Dhaka Metropolis bagged 34 points.


Earlier, Dhaka Metropolis set 104 runs winning target for Chittagong as they were bowled out for 184 runs in their second innings resuming with overnight score of 91 for 4.


Promising opener Nafis Iqbal guided Chittagong Division to reach the target in 20.3 overs.


National under-17 team captain Nafis, nephew of national cricketer Akram Khan, hammered 59 runs off 53 balls that featured 4 boundaries and 3 over boundaries before falling victim of run out.


Skipper Minhajul Abedin Nannu added unbeaten 19 runs off 17 deliveries.


SIS Saikat of Dhaka Metropolis took two wickets for 26 runs in 5 overs.


Earlier, two spinners Shahed Mehmood and Enamul Haq Moni helped Chittagong Division to restrict the opposition second innings for 184 runs in 71.3 overs.


Pakistani Shahed Mehmood picked up four wickets for 48 runs while veteran national spinner Moni, who demolished the Metropolis first innings hauling 7 wickets, claimed 3 more for 53 runs.


Halim Shah was the top scorer for Dhaka Metropolis making 30 runs off 95 balls while Rahul added 29 off 37 deliveries.

Chittagong Division 1st innings- 300/10 in 98 overs, Azam 76, Nafis 23, Nannu 21, Rezaul 48, Moni 66, Murtoza 33 n.o., Anis 23, extras 2, Sujon 2/53, Durjoy 2/53, Ashraful 2/79, Mukul 2/27.
