Dhaka(Bangla2000)--At Faridpur Stadium, Rajshahi Division tasted their second outright victory in the three-day match of the National Cricket League beating again Dhaka Division by 57 runs.


Rajshahi, which earned full six points against Dhaka Division in the first phase match, secured 12 points while Dhaka failed to earn any point from longer version although they won all limited over matches.


With 77-run first innings lead the winners resumed their overnight score of 70 runs for 4 and made 173 runs for all in 50.1 overs in the second innings setting 251 runs target to their opponent.


But Dhaka Division, which scored 153 runs in reply to Rajshahi’s 230 runs in the first innings, suffered a 57-run defeat after bundling out for 193 runs in 63 overs.


Rashedul Haq Sumon made the team highest 52 runs off 70 balls. Fahim Muntasir Sumit (35), Sohel Hossain (26), Mridul (18) and Sadeq Hossain (16) were the other notable scores.


Medium pacer Musfiqur Rahman Babu, who captured four wickets in the first innings, again fired in the second innings claiming three wickets for 62 runs while Mustadir Litu took three for 42.


Earlier, lower order batsman RI Dola guided Rajshahi Division to score 173 runs in the second innings playing a stormy knock of 45 runs off 30 balls.


The number nine batsman Dola hammered five boundaries and four over boundaries before being bowled by Biplob Sarker.


Opener Rafiqul Islam made team highest 55 runs off 133 balls with seven hits across the rope while other double digit makers were Omar (18), Anisur (11) and Bhola (10 n.o.).


Promising national left-arm pacer Bikas Ranjan Das grabbed three wickets for 64 runs while MH Rubel also captured three for 19 runs.


At Barisal, Khulna Division earned second consecutive outright victory in the three-day match outplaying home side Barisal Division by nine wickets to take the solo lead in the group B.


Khulna secured 16 points after the day’s six points while Barisal Division got nine points.


The winners needing only 36 runs to win the match reached the target playing 7.4 overs for the lose of the wicket of Nahidul Haq (8), caught by Mizanur Rahman off Sahnewaz Kabir.


Sazzadul Hasan, who hit a brilliant 147-run knock in the first innings, remained unbeaten with 19 off 25 balls with two hits across the rope while Mohammad Salim added not out six.


Earlier, a four-wicket haul by Nahidul Haq helped Khulna Division to restrict their opposition in 173 runs for all in 88.3 overs in the second innings.


Nahidul Haq spelled 11-7-14-4 with good supports from Ahmed Kamal Colonel and Khairuzzaman Babu who captured two wickets each for 30 and 37 runs respectively.


Number five batsman Towhid Hossain was the top scorer for Barisal Division making 51 runs off 124 balls while Ishtiaq Ahmed added 39 runs off 134 balls.


Earlier on the second day, Khulna Division took a huge 138-run first innings lead against Barisal Division piling up 332 runs in reply to the hosts’ 194 runs.
