Dhaka-- (UNB) – Bangladesh Biman maintained their impressive run beating Rajshahi Division by four wickets in the one-day match of the Green Delta National Cricket League at the BKSP ground yesterday.


With the day’s two points, the national airlines team Biman, which snatched four points from three-day match, increased their tally to 18 points to keep their solo lead in group A.


Chittagong Division followed the newcomer Biman securing 14 points despite yesterday’s 45-run defeat against Dhaka division, which continued their hundred percent record in the one-day.


Another newcomer Dhaka Metropolis maintained their top slot in group-B with 14 points as they thrashed Barisal Division by nine wickets in the day’s one-day encounter.


Khulna Division remained in the second position in the group-B with 10 points despite swallowing a five-wicket defeat in the day’s one-day battle against Sylhet Division.


At the BKSP ground, two half centuries by Habibul Bashar Sumon and Aminul Islam Bulbul helped the national flag career team to earn double success over Rajshahi beating them by four wickets.


Chasing the winning target of 201 runs, Biman fell into big trouble losing four wickets at 46 runs but the huge 125-run fifth wicket partnership between Sumon and Bulbul guided their team to reach the target making 203 for 6 in 42.2 overs.


National middle order batsman Sumon made 50 runs off 101 balls with four hits across the rope while Bulbul contributed 51 runs off 82 deliveries that also included six fours.


Bulbul, the recent past national captain, was adjudged man of the match for his polish innings.


Number seven batsman Sanwar Hossain played another useful innings of unbeaten 25 runs off 20 balls with five hits to the fence and Rupom remained not out with two runs.


Pacer Aminul Islam Bhola was the most successful bowler for Rajshahi capturing three wickets for 37 runs while Alamgir took one for 63 runs.


Earlier, decided to bat first, Rajshahi Division scored 200 runs for 8 wickets in stipulated 50 overs riding on an unbeaten 96-run knock by Omar.


Opener Omar faced 154 deliveries with eight boundaries to make his 96 runs while number four batsman Kalim added 27 off 57 balls and Nayan, batting at 7, made 30 off 31 balls.


Sharif claimed three wickets conceding 31 runs while Rupom and Jem took two wickets each for 32 and 37 runs respectively.


Brief score: Rajshahi- 200/8 in 50 overs, Omar 96 n.o, Kalim 27, Litu 11, Nayan 30, extras 18, Dulu 1/26, Rupom 2/32, Sharif 3/31, Jem 2/37.


Biman- 203/6 in 42.2 overs, Gulla 10, Imran 19, Sumon 50, Bulbul 51, Sanwar 25 n.o., extras 41, Bhola 3/37, Alamgir 1/63.


At the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium, a five-wicket haul by Talha Jubair steered Dhaka Metropolis to outplay Barisal Division by nine wickets.


Coin-favoured Barisal Division, which bagged four points from Dhaka Metropolis in the three-day match, scored paltry 130 runs for all in 35.3 overs after deciding to bat first.


Jubair who demolished the opposition batting lineup grabbing five wickets for 35 runs was adjudged man of the match. He got good support from Sopu, who captured three wickets for 30 runs.


Opener Ranim was the top scorer for Barisal making 30 runs off 37 balls with six hits across the rope.


In reply, Dhaka Metropolis easily reached the target making 133 runs for one wicket in 28.2 overs.


Dhaka Metropolis lost their first wicket without any run on the scoreboard when Mohammad Ashraful returned to the pavilion with duck caught by Ranim off Al Amin in the fifth ball of the first over.


But Mehrab Hossain Opee and SA Shipon guided their team to comfortably post the target.


National glittering opener Opee made his highest in the league with unbeaten 70 runs off 88 balls belting seven fours and a six while his unbeaten partner Shipon added 42 runs off 78 balls.
