Dhaka (Bangla2000)--In the day’s another opening encounter, Barisal Division were bundled out for 179 runs in their first innings against Khulna Division at Jessore.


In reply, Khulna Division scored 19 runs for no loss in 11 overs with Shaon and Salim remained not out at the crease on 7 and 9 runs respectively at the end of the first day.


Imran and Hannan Sarker made good start for Barisal after deciding to bat first but after the dismissal of the opening partnership at 53 runs, they started losing wickets in regular interval.


Imran was the highest scorer for his side making 28 runs off 74 balls and his partner Hannan added 19 off 71 deliveries. However, the innings top score 32 came from extra runs.


Sohail was the most successful bowler for Khulna Division claiming three wickets while Monjurul Islam and MI Rana took two wickets each.


Brief score: Barisal Division 1st innings—179 for all in 83.2 overs (Imran 28, Hannan 19, Mizanur Rahman 12, Moin 16, Ahsanullah 16, Al Amin 17, extras 32, Monju 2/41, Rana 2/35, Jamaluddin Babu 1/27, Ahmed Kamal 1/17, Sohail Islam 3/27.


Khulna Division 1st innings- 19/0 in 11 overs (Shaon batting 7, Salim batting 9, extras 3).


At Rajshahi stadium, a 5-wicket haul by veteran pacer Saiful Islam helped Dhaka Division to bowl out Rajshahi Division for 190 runs in the first innings.


Dhaka Division scored 8 without loss in 4 overs at the end of first day’s play. National opener Shahriar Hossain Bidyut and Harunur Rashid Liton were at the crease with 7 and 1 run respectively.


Rajshahi Division team captain Khaled Masud Pilot won the toss and decided to bat first but made a disastrous start losing five batsmen at 40 runs.


All rounder Mushfiqur Rahman Babu and Mohammed Kalim repaired the damage contributing 96 runs in the sixth wicket stand. Babu made 67 runs off 157 balls while Kalim added 38 runs off 93 deliveries.


Former national pacer Saiful finished his spell with 20.3-7-31-5 while left-arm national pacer Bikas Ranjan Das and off-spinner Fahim Muntasir Sumit took two wickets each.


Brief score: Rajshahi Division 1st Innings—190/10 in 79.4 overs (Rafiqul 12, Sujon 19, MR Babu 67, Kalim 38, Mustadir 18, Parvez 18, extras 5, Bikas 2/18, Sumit 2/78, Saiful 5/31.


Dhaka Division 1st innings- 8/0 in 4 overs (Bidyut batting 7, Liton 1).
