Dhaka-- (UNB) – Six players are in the joint lead in the Women’s Open Chess tournament securing full two points at the end of the second round matches at the Dhanmondi Sultana Kamal Women’s Sports Complex yesterday (Tuesday).


They are: Zakia Sultana and Afroza Khanam Bablee of Bangladesh Ansars, Nazrana Khan Eva of Dhaka University, Mahmuda Haq Chowdhury and Noorjahan Haq Chowdhury of Chittagong and Annaya Lodi of Dhaka.


Syed Afsana Parveen Nira and Sharmin Sultana Shirin are in the second position jointly having 1.5 points.


In the second round matches this morning, Zakia beat Lisa, Eva defeated Nirjana, Bablee outplayed Sajeda, Moly beat Faria, Noorjahan defeated Marwa, Annaya beat Rani Paul, Roksana beat Shamsunnahar, Farzana overcame Afroza.


Nira drew with Shirin in the day’s other fixture.


The third round matches will start at 10.pm today (Wednesday) at the same venue.
