Dhaka--(UNB) - Titas Club and Narayanganj Chess Players Association are jointly leading in the Metropolis First Division Chess League with 7.5 points at the end of the second round yesterday (Tuesday).


Last year’s runners-up Titas Club beat Uttara Daba Sangha by 4-0 points and Narayanganj CPA beat Rajshahi Daba Unnayan Sangastha by 4-0 points at the federation sports room.


Rajib, Lavlu, Aminul and Arman of Titas and Santanu, Monir, Prosenjit and Monir Khan of Narayangonj won their respective games.


Defending champions Bangladesh Biman followed the leader with seven points after beating Dhaka University Chess Team by 3-1 points.


Zia, Reefat and Rakib won their second round boards while Tahmid of Biman lost his game.


Leonine Chess Club won their second round encounter against Kamlapur Samajkallyan & Krira Sangha by 3-1 points.


Grand Master Niaz Murshed and Grand Master Igors Rausis won against Ejaz and Javed and other two boards were drawn.


In the day’s other matches, Bangladesh Ansar beat Farashganj SC 2.5-1.5 points and Sonali Bank beat Uttara Central Chess Club 3.5-0.5 points, and Nakhalpara Yubo Kallayan Sangha drew with Mohakhali Prodip Sangha 2-2 points and Anushilan Dhaka Krira Chakra drew with Anu Memorial Club by 2-2 points.


The third round matches will be held today (Wednesday) from 2:30pm.
