Dhaka-- (UNB) - An eleven-member Bangladesh Chess team will leave here today for Turkey to participate in the 34th World Chess Olympiad to be held in Istanbul from October 28 to November 13.


Some 1000 players from 126 countries are expected to compete in the 14-round Swiss League basis competition.


The Latvian coach of Bangladesh Igor Rausis will directly join the team in Turkey to increase squad number to 12, which include nine players and three officials.


The Bangladesh team: IM Reefat Bin Sattar, IM Ziaur Rahman, Abdullah Al Rakib and IWM Rani Hamid of Bangladesh Biman, FM Enamul Hossain Rajib, Saifuddin Lavlu and Syed Ruhul Kabir Shiploo of Titas Club, Nazrana Khan Iva (Manikganj) and Zakia Sultana (Ansar).


Officials: Syed Sujauddin Ahmed (chief of the delegation), Igor Rausis (coach), Harun ur Rashid (International Arbiter).


Chess Federation General Secretary and chief of the delegation Syed Sujauddin Ahmed will also participate in the FIDE Congress to be held in Istambul on November 3-7.
