Dhaka (UNB)- The government will donate Tk 50 lakh from its Youth Welfare Fund for engaging youths in self-employment vocations.

The decision was taken in a meeting of the board of directors of 'Youth Welfare Fund' held here yesterday with State Minister for Youth, Sports and Cultural Affairs Obaidul Quader in the chair.

"In a bid to create a tempo of self-employment across the country, the government is providing project-wise donations to private and voluntary youth organisations," said a handout.

The government so far has distributed over Tk 1.40 crore among 1,275 youth organisations and the organisations created employment opportunities for a large number of unemployed youths through various income-generating projects at grassroots level.

Youth and Sports secretary Maniklal Samaddar and the DG of Social Welfare Department were among others present in the meeting.
