Dhaka, (UNB) - International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent has started distribution of rice and dahl (lentils) to support 2,500 people in 13 districts affected by flooding and river erosion. Some 260 mts of rice and 52 mts of lentils will be distributed in Kurigram, Gaibandha, Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari, Chandpur, Chapainawabganj, Pabna, Sirajganj, Tangail, Manikganj, Munshiganj, Shariatpur and Bogra districts, said a press release yesterday. It said Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited (HSBC) donated Tk 100,000 in response to the federation’s appeal for 3.2 million Swiss francs to support 200,000 people affected by monsoon related disasters this year. |
