Dhaka (UNB)- A meeting of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Land Ministry yesterday discussed steps taken by the government on Tanguar Haor in Sunamganj as per earlier decision of the committee.


The meeting called upon the ministry to implement its decision fully to cancel the lease of Tanguar Haor for violating the terms and conditions and asked the DC of Sylhet to take legal action against the persons concerned and officials for illegally extracting fish from the haor.


The meeting also reviewed the report of the ministry on the illegally grabbing of government khas land and formed a five-member subcommittee headed by Majibar Rahman Talukdar to solve the matter properly. The other members of the sub-committee are State Minister for Land Rashed Mosharraf, Enamul Huq, Abdul Latif Siddiqui and Salahuddin Ahmad.


Besides, the meeting discussed reports of sub-committee, including those on Hatir Jheel and Tarapur Tea garden, said an official handout.


Chaired by Majibar Rahman Talukdar, it was attended by Rashed Mosharraf, PM’s Parliamentary Affairs Advisor Surnajit Sen Gupta, Enamul Huq, Abdul Latif Siddiqui, Mohammad Ali and Salahuddin Ahmad.
