Chittagong (UNB) - The main index at Chittagong Stock Exchange continued to show an upward spiral posting gains for the fifth straight day yesterday.

All Share Price Index at the country’s second bourse gained 29.84 points or 2.43 percent to close at 1255.97 points from Tuesday’s 1226.13 points.

Of the 81 listed securities traded yesterday, 75 gained, four declined and two remained unchanged.

Some 40,83,207 shares and debentures valued at Tk 11.25 crore were transacted as against 2,290,940 shares worth Tk 8.74 crore on the previous day.

Chic Tex (1,082,500), Beximco Pharma (542,800), Quasem Drycells (519,650), FU-WANG Foods (378,500), and AIMS First Guaranteed (370,000) were among the volume leaders.

Market capitalisation stood at Tk 47.87 billion from Tuesday’s Tk 46.62 billion.
