Dhaka (UNB)- Bangladesh Bank has made commemorative silver coins of ten taka denomination to mark the silver jubilee of independence of Bangladesh.

 

The coin bears the portrait of the father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on one side and the Smriti Soudha on the other.

 

Each weighing 31.47gram pure silver the price of the coin is fixed at Tk 1200. The Central Bank circulated 5,000 commemorative coins.

 

Deputy Secretary of the Finance Ministry Mujibur Rahman Mia and Deputy General Manager of Bangladesh Bank KM Amanulla yesterday formally presented the coin to Foreign Minister Abdus Samad Azad, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Abul Hasan Chowdhury and Foreign Secretary CM Shafi Sami, said an official handout.

 

The coin was also presented to State Minister for Information Prof Abu Sayeed at a separate function.
