Chittagong (UNB) – The weekly tea sale, held here Tuesday, observed a strong market again this week with prices advancing further for most grades.

Internal buyers including Blenders operated quite actively with some interest from Pakistan and out-markets.

Poland and Russia absorbed almost the entire quantity of large and bold Brokens at higher levels.

A bright feature of the sale was the strong bidding by buyers from 80 p/sacks of Dm(PF) and DM, which realized up to Tk 77/50 per kg.

CTC Leaf: 8,001 chests, 6,041 gunny sacks, 80 p/sacks and 208 gunny sacks of old season on offer met with a strong demand at generally dearer rates.

Brokens: All Brokens met with a strong demand and were mostly dearer particularly Medium Brokens which advanced by Tk 2 to Tk 3 and occasionally more.

Higher value teas were an irregular market and often slightly easier. Plainer types generally tender dearer. Large and bold Brokens were generally a strong market and sold at much dearer levels.

Fannings : Met with a stronger demand at mostly dearer levels for all types.

CTC Dust: 907 chests, 1,756 gunny sacks and 180 gunny sacks of old season on offer met a better demand. Better liquoring types were once again were dearer by Tk 5 and more.

Others sold around last levels in line with quality, CDs eased slightly with the plainer liquoring types often being neglected. Blenders were very active with good support from loose tea buyers.
